Our goal is to provide a bridge between the Hawaiian Elders’ Voices of Wisdom and those who want to benefit from the beliefs that lead to self-empowerment in order to raise their consciousness and return to their daily lives awakened, strengthened and refreshed.

At Lomilomi Hana Lima, it is our loving intent to create a restful place for physical and spiritual renewal and re-connection to what makes the heart sing. Through our services, we will provide therapeutic support to improve the quality of life for all those who enter our care, no matter their current stage of wellness. That is why we are happy to provide lomilomi for everyone, including: keiki, hapai, and kupuna.

Meet Our Team

Eri Mahealani Sakai-Virden

Founder, Kumu Lomi, Lomilomi Practitioner, Aromatherapist, LMT

Eri’s love for Hawaii started at an early age. A native of Nagoya, Japan, her family traveled often to Hawaii, and she remembers falling in love with the islands, the culture, and everything Hawaiian from the age of nine, deepening with every trip here.

Eri’s youth included a rich educational background, both scholastically as well as in the healing realm. She credits two teachers who made the greatest impact on her in this way. The first of these was Ms. Saburi, who taught Eri through demonstration and observation, the ability to bring forth healing using energy. Her father also shared with her his gift of an understanding of healing energy through his own spirituality.

Eri studied dance, through ballet, from a very early age. This grace served her later when she began to study hula with Hawaiian kumu who traveled to Japan. Her poise and love of Hawaiian music and hula led her to a coveted spot in a competing halau in the Big Island’s Merrie Monarch Festival in the year 2000. In 2007, she returned to the Merrie Monarch stage with her hula sisters and Kumu Kapua Dalire as a Hawaii resident, and she was truly excited.

Lomilomi and Hawaiian healing arts became a profound interest after successfully completing and becoming certified in a rigorous course of study in aromatherapy, anatomy and physiology in Japan. She enrolled in Long Life Lomilomi under Kumu Dane Silva in Pahoa, Hawaii, and studied with him for several years. She also studied with Kumu Alva Andrews for many years. This led to the opening of her own lomilomi and aromatherapy clinic in Nagoya, which she successfully ran for over four years.

Eri moved to Hawaii twelve years ago, now has two sons, ages seven and nine years. She assisted Kumu Brenda with teaching lomilomi workshops at Hawaii Healing Arts College and other locations. She earned her Kumu Lomi status with HLA 2005, and now shares her many gifts at Lomilomi Hana Lima. One of these gifts is her use of listening skills, which awakens her intuition and allows her to express her loving compassion.

Maleka Cook

Lomilomi Practitioner, LMT

Raised in beautiful Hāna, Maui, Maleka was brought to the practice of her ancestors with the guidance of her mother. “Her courage to seek knowledge of our kūpuna, opened the doors to my path in this healing work.” Maleka says about her mom. She is driven to improve the health and well being for everyone in her community through the practice of Lomilomi. When being treated by Maleka, you truly do feel a part of the family as she takes you in with aloha.

Maleka’s love for her culture and community fueled her career direction and education, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Hawaiian Studies, LMT license and completing a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. She continues to pursue new perspectives and hone skills in Hula and Yoga.

Tomoko Barnet

Micropigmemtation, Licensed Massage Therapist and Tattoo license

With years as a professional dancer, Tomoko’s energy is centered and rhythmic. She brings herself to her work daily through awareness practice, looking after the well being of each client with full attention. Suffering from injury as a dancer, Tomoko’s journey to wholeness left her with a burning desire to share with others from her experience, the healing arts and the beauty arts.

As a Lomilomi Practioner Tomoko is committed to the healing of her clients through compassion. “I know injury, I know pain, I know how it feels.” she says.

Tomoko is skilled in the art of Micropigmemtation, she believes in the power of positivity and joy. “Open your smile and happy face” is the theme of her work.

Tomoko is an important part of our success and helps us to cultivate a special healing sanctuary.

Heather Opalenik

Esthetician, Skin Care Specialist

Trained by Makana Esthetics School and Specializing in Microdermabration, Peels, Acne, and Sun Damage, Heather’s services don’t end when you walk out the door, “I am your skin care companion whether you’re on my table or seeking advice when we see each other at the beach”.

Heather supports her clients with skin health by providing in house specialized treatments custom tailored to your needs. She also provides consultations on best regime and routines to continue optimum skin beauty. Heather has a passion and respect for the skin, how to manipulate it in a healthy and safe way that can deliver desired results.

When someone comes in with a certain problem, Heather makes it her person responsibility to help that person feel comfortable as she discovers a solution. Her service is results oriented, yet personal and relaxing.

Sailor Solley

Licensed Massage Therapist

When not at Lomilomi Hana Lima, you will find Sailor up Mauka or down Makai, finding her joy in the mountains or in the waters of the ocean. “I have always felt that this path chose me, I am exactly where I am suppose to be.” Sailor is confident in her abilities, yet humble and evoking a calming surrounding wherever she goes. With an innate ability to help others heal mentally, emotionally and spiritually, Sailor brings Lomilomi to life every day.

Sailor is inspired to practice by the love of life, nature and family. Aloha is what drives her to pursue the art of Lomilomi, she wants people to know it is always here when you need it.

Malia Killam

Lomilomi Practitioner, LMT

Born and raised in Maui, Malia has been part of the Lomilomi Hana Lima ohana since 2015. Traditionally trained in the art of Lomilomi under renowned Kumu Keola Chan, Malia’s connection with her culture is alive and activated. She first balances herself, her energy and intentions to help other feel better and in alignment with Na’au, their core. She is inspired to honor her ancestors and give back to her culture, while sharing with the world around her.

Fueled by her love for family, mountains and the ocean she brings a joyous and relaxing energy to her clients and the spa.

“After experiencing massage school and our continuous journey that we’re all on, I’ve learned a lot about myself and now I’m trying to be more connected with my culture and just trying to give back some of that aloha. Your experience at Lomilomi begins with Lizz, she manages our website & specials, runs the phones and reservations. When you first arrive at Lomilomi Hana Lima, Lizz will check you in and help you transition from the outside world, to a little piece of paradise we call Lomilomi Hana Lima, where we hope you find sanctuary, healing and relaxation.
